As a member of the Home Theater Engineering team, the successful engineer will be the technical lead responsible for developing and maintaining Dolby audio encoding workflow tools. These tools are a suite of software applications that perform functions such as audio encoding for Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby TrueHD formats, real time audio decoding, bit rate estimation, and audio signal encoder error analysis. The successful engineer will be responsible for implementing new application level features, integrating new audio codec libraries as they become available through the Dolby platform group, and performance optimization of the application architecture and algorithms.

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities for Dolby Media Producer Suite:

• Implement new software features.

• Integrate new codec libraries.

• Perform software optimizations.

• Resolve critical bugs and field support issues.

Secondary responsibility:

• Provide software development support to other projects as needed within the Home Theater Engineering team.

In this role you will work with Engineering and Product management to assist in building engineering schedules, and driving to meet milestones according to plan. This will require deep involvement during planning phases, and regular status updates during program execution.

Qualifications:

Required:

• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent) 5+ years industry experience.

• Proficiency in C/C++ programming, desired knowledge in Assembly and Java programming.

• Experience developing with XCode for Mac OS X.

• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

• Experience in debugging complex systems and issues; follow up on bug reports and resolve problems.

Highly Desired:

• Familiarity with audio/video codec technologies, including: Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital, MLP Lossless.

• Experience with bug tracking and project management tools (e.g. Jira, Bugzilla, MS Project, etc.).

• Experience or knowledge of Agile development methodologies.

• Willing to travel up to a few weeks a year, with an initial extended stay in San Francisco for orientation and knowledge transfer.
