As a Systems Engineer for the Home Theatre Product Development and Licensing group, you will create and maintain development materials used by Dolby licensees to integrate and test Dolby technologies in home entertainment products (such as audio/video receivers, Blu-ray Disc players, or soundbars). In this position, you will work closely with other engineers, product management, and marketing to define next generation technologies within the home entertainment ecosystem. Your detailed understanding of product design, chip architectures, and middleware will be essential to develop effective solutions to technical problems in the market. You will also participate with prototyping home entertainment products that incorporate Dolby technologies and you will stay abreast of the latest technology by interfacing with licensees and by seeking out relevant information from other sources such as industry whitepapers, data sheets, etc.

Responsibilities:
- Develop understanding of home entertainment product architectures.
- Create and maintain home entertainment product development materials. These materials include:

- Technical documentation supporting integration of Dolby technologies in products;

- Requirements for products integrating Dolby technologies based on thorough understanding of their use cases;

- Test procedures and test signals conforming to product requirements for compliance verification of Dolby technologies;

- Wrapper, middleware, or integration code that will facilitate the adoption of Dolby technologies;

- Research and prototype home theatre products using applicable chip architectures, including SoC chipsets (such as those from TI, ADI, or Cirrus).

- Develop product prototypes to better understand how Dolby technologies are used in home entertainment products and how they interact with other technologies. This activity includes modeling of the following:

- Pre-processing (signal conditioning, analog-to-digital conversion, demultiplexing);

- Core processing (Dolby codec technologies);

- Post-processing (Dolby post-processing technologies, bass management, time delays, audio/video synchronization);

- Inputs and outputs (line-level analog, HDMI, AES, S/PDIF);

- Typical and atypical use-cases of Dolby technologies (multi-screen, multiple encoding or other processes);

Qualifications:

- BS/MS in EE or CS (or equivalent) and ideally 3-5 years industry experience.

- Experience in debugging complex systems and issues; follow up on bug reports and resolves problems.

- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

- Familiarity with industry standards including BD-ROM standard, HDMI, DLNA, AirPlay, CEA, S/PDIF, etc.

- Experience with C/C++ programming, desired knowledge in Assembly and Java programming.

- Experience with product testing and expertise with chip architectures (such as those from TI, ADI, or Cirrus) is a plus.

- Willing to travel up to a few weeks a year.
