As a Software Test Engineer in the Dolby QA group, the qualified candidate will test software that enables the next generation of Dolby technologies. You will create the design of QA test environments as well as the design and execution of all tests needed.
Responsibilities:
- Design and create test plans and test cases for each software release using advanced test design techniques.
- Perform automated and manual test execution and report to management on test coverage, risk assessment, and metrics.
- Create and maintain scripts for automation libraries, utilizing and adapting to existing automation tools.
- Report issues through a formal bug tracking system and work with the engineering team to help isolate, debug, and resolve issues/bugs.
- Setup, configure, troubleshoot and maintain systems test environments.
- Stay abreast of industry systems testing tools and best practices.
- Ability to clearly articulate and report on test progress, results, and defects.
- Defect management including an ability to produce high quality defect reports using defect tracking tools such as Jira or Bugzilla.
Qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science/Engineering or Electronics Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Min. 2 years of experience in software testing, including designing and implementing complex test plans and test cases.
- Excellent knowledge of and experience with current software testing industry tools and best practices.
- Demonstrated skills in multiple test design techniques.
- Experience with test execution covering functional, performance, negative, stress and load testing.
- Professional experience programming in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Batch, and/or Bash.
- Familiarity with standard bug reporting tools such as Jira or Bugzilla.
- Proven experience with Linux/UNIX and Windows operating systems.
- Knowledge of Network protocols including TCP/IP, SSH, SLP, NTP, FTP, PPP, HTML, XML, Web service, SNMP, and SOAP.

Preferably familiar with Digital video technologies including MPEG-2, JPEG2000, HD-SDI, HDMI.

Understanding of Digital audio technologies including PCM, Dolby Digital 5.1, and 7.1

Demonstrated experience testing Dolby or similar products in the audio domain is a significant plus.

Ability to achieve results, meet deadlines, and adjust to quickly changing priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Excellent oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills, and a thorough approach to problem solving.
