Overview:
This position is for the Imaging QA team within the Cinema Business Group. The candidate hired will have an immediate impact in driving quality standards for Dolby’s Imagingproducts within the Cinema Business Group.
Advanced Display Technologies Test
Required skills:
- Advanced display systems hardware & software based on LCD, LED, Plasma, High Dynamic Range, and Quantum dot technologies.
- Candidate should demonstrate understanding of Digital & Broadcast Video technologies, standards, formats, interfaces, test pattern generators, test techniques.
Software Test Engineering
Required skills:
- Early project scoping including collaboration with R&D, marketing, and engineering teams, review of proposed technologies, development of test strategies, test plans, test cases, design of test data.
- Test planning including test coverage, test approach, resource requirements, budget requirements, scheduling, risk assessment, and report metrics.
- Test tools applications for test management, test execution, and test reporting
- Understanding of test design methodologies including but not limited to: equivalence class partitioning, combinatorics, use distributions, fuzz testing, heuristics, tractability matrices, and control flow approaches.
- Test execution and analysis in the following: functional testing, regression testing, stress testing, performance testing, and load testing.
- Test tracking including test progress, results, artifacts, and defects
- Defect management including an ability to produce high quality defect reports using defect tracking tools such as Jira, DevTrack, and Bugzilla
Test Automation Programming
Expected skills:
- Understanding of the following operating systems: Windows, Unix/Linux, Apple iOS, and Android SDK.
- Perl, Python, PHP, C, SQL, Bash, and TCL scripting languages
- Familiarity with C/C++ and Java programming languages, HTML, PHP, Apache, XML markup languages, Network protocols including TCP/IP, SSH, SLP, NTP, FTP, PPP, Web Services, SNMP, and SOAP. Understanding of RPC technologies in Apache Thrift is ideal.
Test automation tools such as: SoapUI, Selenium, xCode, Eclipse, Junit, QTP, TestComplete, etc.

- Support testing of projects from early development to completion.
- Responsible for resourcing, budgeting, and staffing Sunnyvale QA team.
- Plan, design, implement, and execute the test approach for Dolby’s Advanced Display technologies.
- Design and implement new test methods to address the current & next generation capabilities in our products.
- Design, set-up, configure and maintain software testing environments and test labs.
- Utilize and adapt existing test automation tools, primarily in Python/ Perl/Ruby/C/C++/Objective C.
- Verify the functionality of the current & new Advanced Display technologies.
- Report issues through a formal bug tracking system in providing risk analysis metrics back to the core team.
- Stay abreast of industry SQA tools and best practices and apply to the development and deployment of new test technologies, tools or methods.

Required background:
- MS or BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
- 6+ years professional SQA experience in software testing and management
- Working knowledge of evaluation methods used in the design, development, and debugging and testing of advance display hardware and software systems
- Demonstrated ability to lead, plan and execute test projects
- Good working knowledge of SQA industry tools and best practices
- Experience using software test tools and scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Ruby, PHP
- Practical experience testing in various operating systems and embedded environments
- Methodical, detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
- Experience with Imaging & Video quality subjective & objective testing using signal generators and analyzers is a plus
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve project goals
- Great people skills, including the ability to collaborate successfully with local / remote team members from Engineering, Marketing, and Customer support
- Ability to multitask, perform under pressure, and meet deadlines
- Professional experience with standard bug reporting tools such as Jira and test management tools like TestLink
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
